The Face of a Traitor

sgThis is Missouri Senator Kit Bond(R), who just yesterday wrote in the NYT that we have had the "wrong plan" in Iraq for the last three years.

Three years? That takes us to July 2004. Ok, let's find some quotes from Mr.Bond in that time regarding Iraq:

January 2006:"
There has been significant progress combating the insurgency. He said the United States and Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) have been successful in cleaning out insurgents, turning the areas over to the ISF to prevent the return of extremists and using funds to create new jobs, particularly in Sunni areas. Plans are to focus on training more Iraqi police forces in the coming year."

December 2005: (on MSNBC's Hardball) "We're moving in that direction. Now the president has gone on record to talk about what's going right in Iraq."

also on Hardball:"We've made tremendous progress to date. And it looks very good."

June 2005:"There will always be those who want to cut and run, but President Bush understands the need to fight and win and that will continue to be his message to the American people. Reports from the field show that progress is being made despite what CNN says."

July 2004:"It's time the Democrats stop attacking the President. We ought to be strengthening our troops, supporting our agencies here at home and not trying to phony up charges of pressure to win political points. There is no question we are safer because we have deposed Saddam Hussein."

...you know, not being a particularly patriotic person, I don't like using words like "traitor" too much, because they're so loaded. But here's a friggin' U.S. senator, who has been piling on the bullshit for three years, attacking the other side's patriotism, and now all of sudden he wants us to forget everything he's said and trust that we now have "the right plan."

By supporting a plan for three years he now admits was wrong, he has had a hand in getting U.S. soldiers killed and many more wounded. If that's not a traitor, I don't know what is.
